Austin’s Week 6 DFS Player Pool

Quarterbacks – This week at QB, we’ve got the higher priced guys in great match-ups and projected shootouts, so we’re paying up in tournaments for Mahomes, Watson, and Jackson. Kyler Murray and Matt Ryan are great cash game options and are priced right next to one another. I’d lean Murray because of his rushing upside, but Matty Ice has been lights out. If you’re diving into the bargain bin, *Gardener Minshew and Kirk Cousins at home in good match-ups could be considered relatively safe in cash, but Josh Rosen is purely a tournament play versus Washington, in what could be a train wreck of a game, but one we can’t look away from. I added Russell Wilson to the pool because it seems most attention is on the KC/HOU and ATL/ARZ games. If we can get Russ at a lower ownership in, perhaps, a surprise shootout with the Browns, I’m all for it.

Running Backs – The RB pool this week is much more refined and clear this week. In cash, I don’t think it’s necessary to pay up for Zeke and Dalvin on the road in tougher match-ups. Alvin Kamara was my favorite play up top, but he just popped up on the injury report with an ankle issue, so this will be something to monitor. Jacksonville was just decimated by CMC and if AK suits up, fire him up at home in the dome.
Some cheaper options that are cash viable are Nick Chubb, Mark Ingram, Derrick Henry, Leonard Fournette, and apparently now Adrian Peterson. These backs have that guaranteed workload we like to see, and although they aren’t prolific pass catchers, they’re all in pretty juicy match-ups. Chase Edmonds would become an insta-lock if David Johnson can’t go Sunday. Duke Johnson and Kenyan Drake are some nice value plays with expected negative game scripts resulting in plenty of passing-game work and should be nice tournament plays.

Wide Receivers – There are several WR’s in smash spots this week that I love. The KC/HOU and ATL/ARZ games are going to be very chalky and for good reason. There’s going to be a boatload of points scored on both sides of the ball and you want any action you can get on this game. Look for Julio and Hopkins to bounce back this week and solidify their roles as the Alphas on their teams after being outproduced by Fuller and Ridley in Week 5. Cooper Kupp is a stud WR1 and apparently the only read Jared Goff makes it through before malfunctioning. It looks like we finally get Tyreek back and I’m sure Mahomes has missed him just as much as we have. Larry Legend is a lock for me in cash this week with Christian Kirk still banged up and after seeing what Will Fuller did to this ATL defense. Chark has earned every week starter consideration with Minshew under center. He’ll likely be shadowed by Marshon Lattimore, who forced Mike Evans into early retirement last week, but I still think Chark could shake loose for some big plays with that 4.3 speed. If you want off the Chark chalk (try saying that 5 times fast), Dede is a good pivot at a cheaper price who will line up against PJ Williams. Stefon Diggs’ wheels ought to be greased this week against a putrid Philly secondary. Kirk Cousins will have less time to throw in this one with the Eagles strong up front, which is a good thing for Diggs. Hopefully Zimmer recognizes the Philly pass funnel and doesn’t jam Cook into the box 20 times. Hollywood Brown is one of those boom/bust plays you just play every week in tournaments because he can break a slate if things go his way, but he looks to be a true game-time decision, which could move his ownership, so, keep a close eye leading up to lock. Pringle had a great showing last week after Sammy had an early exit. The K-State product went 6/8 for 103 and a TD and is only $3,500 this week. Pay attention to the injury report heading into kickoff, because if Sammy sits he’s a nice value play. Jamison Crowder finally gets Sam Darnold back at home who showered him with an ungodly 17 targets in week 1 and that’s enough for me to consider him in cash and tournaments this week at only $4,000, but teammate Robby Anderson boasts the same price tag, I’d roll him out in GPP’s for the higher ceiling. OBJ is also priced extremely low, relative to his talent at $6,800. I know Cleveland has been a desolate wasteland for fantasy purposes, but I certainly think stacking the SEA/CLE game for at least one of your lineups could make some noise at low ownership.

Tight Ends – This week we are back to following the flowchart after Eifert disappointed. The Cardinals are surrendering a whopping 16.4 FPPG and Austin Hooper has been a monster this year and still somehow remains under-priced, underrated, and underappreciated in the dynasty community. He’s a cash-game lock averaging 17.5 FPPG, but you can get contrarian in tournaments by paying up for one of the Big 3. I’m off Kittle this week after the losses to the 49ers offensive line. The Rams will try to get after Jimmy G and Kittle will likely be forced into blocking more and run less routes than normal. I expect a lot of passes out of the backfield to Breida and Coleman. This isn’t the week to go cheap at TE, that’s for sure. They only value option I could realistically see doing anything would be Noah Fant. The Titans Defense has been great this year, but are giving up 10 FPPG to the TE position.

Defenses – I listed a couple options at defense because if you are entering multiple lineups, it’s usually a good idea to spread out your ownership; however, Draft Kings done lost they damn minds with several D/ST’s under $2,000. Somehow the NY Jets at home with Sam Darnold back under center are $1,500??? I’ll take those savings all day.
